What is postpartum rage?

Postpartum rage is something that can occur either with or without other mood symptoms like depression or anxiety, and it is often overlooked in favor of more traditional issues like PPD or PPA.
What does it look like?

πŸ‘‰πŸ» Intense feelings of anger
πŸ‘‰πŸ» Lashing out verbally or physically
πŸ‘‰πŸ» Withdrawing from loved ones
πŸ‘‰πŸ» Negative feelings or little interest in baby
πŸ‘‰πŸ» Feeling powerless over your emotions/behavior

Postpartum rage isn’t well understood, but it’s usually attributed to issues like hormone levels, poor sleep, lifestyle changes, and unmet parental expectations (feeling judged, overwhelmed) after baby is born. It can have a harmful impact on what is supposed to be a happy time with your new little one.
Fortunately, there are things you can do! Some antidepressants have been known to help, ask well as lifestyle changes, support groups, and – you guessed it! – therapy. If you or someone you know is struggling with rageful feelings, finding a therapist can help get you back where you want to be.

For those of you in Texas and specifically Rockwall and the Dallas-Fort Worth area, I am currently accepting new clients. Please don’t hesitate to reach out. I would love to connect!
