  1. You struggle to regulate your Emotions
    • While some degree of emotional dysregulation is expected postpartum, continued difficulty lasting longer than two weeks postpartum and affecting your functioning and/or relationship could be a sign of depression
  2. You have intrusive Thoughts
    • Intrusive thoughts about something happening to your baby can be common to postpartum and can affect sleep and functioning. It is also a sign of postpartum anxiety and can be addressed!
  3. Problems in your Relationship
    • Bringing home a new baby can be a strain on a marriage or relationship, and arguments may arise over issues such as sleep, attention, sexual intimacy, division of labor, or personal time. Couple’s counseling may be beneficial to address these issues in a loving and helpful way
  4. You just want a new Perspective
    • Sometimes, nothing has to be ‘wrong’ to seek therapy. Maybe you want to challenge unhealthy thinking or simply improve one are of your life. Counseling benefits everyone!

Ever thought about counseling, but weren’t sure if your problems were “bad enough?” Here are a few signs to help you decide if therapy is right for you or your family. But also remember:

👉🏻 You can go to counseling for any reason, “bad” or not
👉🏻 Counseling does not mean you are “crazy” or incapable of handling your struggles. It doesn’t say anything about you, other than that you are seeking help for a problem, much like someone might go to a doctor for a medical issue.
👉🏻 Counseling doesn’t have to be forever ☺️

If you feel you are struggling in any of these areas, please consider reaching out for support. I am now seeing clients in-person in Rockwall, Texas, and virtually in the whole state of Texas. I would love to hear from you!
